I.R.S. Records grew from the success of The Police and from a simple conviction: unfamiliar did not mean unmarketable. The label became a home for artists including R.E.M., the Go-Go’s, the Bangles, the Cramps, Buzzcocks, Wall of Voodoo, Fine Young Cannibals, Concrete Blonde, and many more.
