The Music Business

How artists, labels, managers, publishers, promoters, and money actually behave.

The music business is not one business. It is a collection of competing interests that occasionally cooperate long enough to make a record, launch a tour, or create a career. I write about management, labels, touring, publishing, rights, streaming, technology, artist development, marketing, and the difference between loving music and knowing what to do with it.

The point is not nostalgia. The old deals explain the new ones, and the same human instincts keep returning in different packaging.
